My Personal Testimony

373 views | favorited 0 times
I am the first born child. My parents were young and didn't get married till I was 5 months old. My Dad was an alcohlic and taken to prison when I was 5 years old. I will never forget that day they came ( the police) and knocked on the door for my Dad and took him away in handcuffs. That would be the last time my Dad would live with us ( My Mom and my 2 sisters, and me). My Mom had to raise us on her own and she did the best she could though she had problems of her own. My Mom did eventually get remarried and had my brother when I was 13. I had alot of insecurities in my life-especially with men. I was molested twice (once when I was 5 and another time when I was 8). As a teenager, I was seeking to be loved and I met a boy at the age of 15 and got involved in drugs. I started out smoking pot (which I didn't care for) and then I got hooked on Meth. I got caught up in that lifestyle for 3 years. I knew I wanted better for my life and I didn't want to live that way. I wanted to one day get married and have children. When I was 18 ( weighing only 105 pounds at 5'7) I went into a Christian program called "Teen Challenge." It totally changed my life or I should say Jesus did. I graduated a year later. After I got out of the program-less then an year later- I got married and within 2 years of my marriage I had my 2 precious and God-given children. My marriage started off rocky and abusive and stayed that way for the next 16 years which ended up in an divorce. Through that divorce, I became very depressed. I started drinking (alot). I was thinking that it would get rid of all the hurt I was feeling-but the fact is the problems were still there. I needed to face the hurts and the problem. In the midst of it for the next 2 years-I ran from God. I met my 2nd husband, who wasn't a Christian at that time. I started going back to church along with my boyfriend (who is now my husband now). I rededicated my life back to the Lord and my husband gave his heart to the Lord too. I get amazed by the work God has done in my husbands life. They say you never forget your true love and my one and only true LOVE is JESUS!!!!!!! My life is always happier when I am walking with the Lord! I have gone through alot in my life and have let the Lord down with my sin, but I know I am forgiven and no matter what I am going through in life-The Lord is stronger than my problems. I am truly blessed!

Beautiful story and even more beautiful is the love of Jesus!! Thank you for sharing--I can relate to the part of drowning one's self in alochol to numb the pain--"been there and done that" but praise God for His unfailing love and healing.
